There are two styles, White Diamonds and Royal White Diamonds. In the Royal White Diamonds version the 23 function keys are done in gold topped with a total of 2.53 carats of diamonds. The White Diamonds version has diamonds only on the navigation keys. Both phones have a screen protected by sapphire crystal glass. The front panel is embellished by a triangle inset of gold and the battery cover is made of stainless steel decorated with leather. The Royal White Diamonds version is limited to 200 pieces selling for 30,000 euros each. The White Diamonds version is 9000 euros. While we knew both FOX and TNT were destined to land in Germany at some point, the latter won’t be arriving until January of 2009. For those unaware, FOX has actually already launched in Deutschland, but you can bet your bottom dollar, er, Euro, that TNT is hoping to be a formidable competitor. TNT Serie, as it will be dubbed, will unfortunately be aired in 16:9 24 / 7, which likely means at least some content will be shown in stretch-o-vision. Still, we’re hearing that the programming lineup will be quite robust, with re-runs of US favorites 30 Rock, Friday Night Lights, Everybody Adores Raymond, Monk, King of Queens and quite a few others. As for carriers, it seems as if discussions are ongoing with a number of cable and IPTV providers, but nothing definitive has been uttered just yet.

[Thanks, Chris]

The high-definition war just gets crazier by the day over in Poland, with no fewer than four announcements from the nation within the last month. Just weeks / hours after Cyfra+ and Aster pledged to boost their respective HD lineups, along comes Vectra to make things even more interesting. The cable carrier has announced that it will be offering up seven high-def channels, including TVN HD, Eurosport HD, Polsat Sport HD, Nat Geo HD, Luxe TV HD, Canal+ Sport HD and Canal+ Film HD. It should be noted that the networks require a decoder to receive, but with all this newfound competition, we’re hoping that those expensive fees associated with such things start to sink (or vanish completely).

Panasonic already dished out a slew of Blu-ray / HDD recorders in Japan (no shock there), but folks in Australia are pretty flippin’ excited to be second in line to receive stated goods. For whatever reason, Panny has decided to roll out a June-bound 500GB twin-tuner BD recorder along with a handful of lesser recorders in the Australia region before any other locale save for Japan. The model numbers have been gently tweaked (DMR-BW500, DMR-EX88, DMR-EX78 and DMR-EZ48V, for starters), but everything else looks to be the same. Check the links below for lots more on Panasonic’s latest onslaught.

Historically, Topeka has been one of the last locales in Kansas to get gifted with new HD channels. Nevertheless, quite a few folks in the area are celebrating today as 11 newcomers have joined the fold. From SciFi HD to USA HD to NFL Network HD, Cox has ratcheted Topeka’s HD lineup to 36 total stations in addition to HD On Demand. We’ll admit, this is a pretty impressive list, and we can only hope it bleeds out to other systems here shortly. Head on past the break for the full rundown of new nets.

[Thanks, Kevin and James]

We should probably preface this by reiterating that when Sharp states “professional,” it means precisely that. The firm’s latest beamer — the June-bound XG-P560W (or XG-P560WN sans lens) — features a modest WXGA (1,280 x 800) resolution, but includes Texas Instruments’ .65-inch 3-chip DLP technology along with Sharp’s own CV-IC II System for smoothing jaggies and minimizing image noise. Additionally, it features a 1,800:1 contrast ratio, seven interchangeable lenses, a dual-lamp lighting system, DVI / HDMI inputs and a built-in Ethernet port for remote access and control. Remember that whole spill we made at the onset? Yeah, here’s proof: $16,995 for the XG-P560W, $15,995 for the XG-P560WN.

After Windexing our spectacles and finding that Verizon actually was on a mission to bring FiOS TV to New York City, we still yearned for more proof that a formidable opponent was indeed looking to take on TWC / Cablevision in the Large Apple. Announced today, NYC’s Franchise and Concession Review Committee (FCRC) has “voted unanimously to approve a proposal by Verizon to provide TV service to all five boroughs of the city.” From here, the proposed agreement “must be confirmed by the Mayor’s Office of the City of New York and the New York State Public Service Commission.” Mmm, so close you can taste it, can’t you Manhattan?

Merely months after Verizon managed to secure Michael Bay’s talents to campaign for FiOS, the carrier has now snagged Celtics superstar Kevin Garnett to push its fiber-based services. The NBA massive man is now starring in a 30-second spot for Verizon’s FiOS, showing off just how much he adores the innovative Home Media DVR with multi-room recording playback capabilities (its words, not ours). First Frank Caliendo, then Mr. Bay, now KG — who’s next, Don King?

Right on the heals of The Cable Show 2008 — where tru2way was the speak of the show — Sony has signed up with the NCTA to support the next generation of two-way cable devices. This day Sony joins Panasonic, LG, and Samsung who have already announced plans to produce cable ready HDTVs, which can take advantage of all the interactive services your cable company has to offer — including a guide and video-on-demand — without the need for a cable issued STB. While nearly 40 percent of Time Warner Cable markets are already support for tru2way, and Comcast anticipates to have most of its markets ready to go by the end of the year, there’s no word on when Sony anticipates to release its first device, which we suspect will be an HDTV.
